Delivery Reminders

Last updated: April 24, 2026

Overview

Delivery reminders are the follow-up notifications Fable sends to employees who haven't completed an assigned training. Reminders are delivered via the same channel the campaign was originally sent on — Slack, email, or Microsoft Teams (where Teams delivery is enabled for your tenant).

Reminders are configured at two levels:

  1. Global reminder settings — your tenant's default reminder behavior. Every new campaign inherits these settings when it's created.

  2. Campaign-level reminder settings — per-campaign overrides. If you edit reminders on a specific campaign, those settings override the global default for that campaign. If you don't touch them, the campaign continues to use the global default.

This guide walks through what's configurable, how to set a global reminder, and how to set or override a reminder on a specific campaign.

Getting Started

How global and campaign-level reminders work together

Think of reminders as having two layers:

  • Global sets the tenant-wide default. Every new campaign starts with these settings.

  • Campaign-level overrides the global default for one specific campaign.

The rule: if you edit reminder settings on a campaign, those settings override the global default for that campaign. If you don't edit them, the campaign keeps using the global default — so any future change to the global default will flow through on the next scheduled reminder.

How to set your global reminder default

Your global reminder settings apply to every new campaign your tenant creates. Setting a sensible default here saves time on every campaign going forward.

  1. Go to Settings → Notifications → Delivery Reminders (or work with your TAM to configure your tenant default).

  2. Toggle reminders on or off as the default for new campaigns.

  3. Choose a default cadence (every 1–7 days).

  4. Toggle next-business-day delivery on or off.

  5. Save.

Future campaigns will inherit these settings. Existing campaigns are not retroactively changed.

How to set a reminder for a specific campaign

Use campaign-level settings when a specific campaign needs different behavior from your global default — for example, a high-priority compliance campaign that needs daily reminders, or a low-urgency awareness campaign that only needs weekly nudges.

  1. Open the campaign in the campaign creation or edit flow.

  2. Scroll to the Delivery Reminders section.

  3. Toggle reminders on or off for this campaign.

  4. Select a cadence from the dropdown (every 1–7 days).

  5. Set an optional end date after which reminders stop for this campaign.

  6. Toggle next-business-day delivery on or off.

  7. Save the campaign.

Any setting you change here overrides the global default for this campaign only. Any setting you leave alone continues to inherit from the global default.

When changes take effect

Changes take effect on the next scheduled reminder. Reminders already generated for immediate delivery are not retroactively modified. Turning reminders off on a campaign stops all future reminders for that campaign immediately.

FAQ

What's the difference between global and campaign-level reminder settings?

Global settings are your tenant's default — every new campaign inherits them. Campaign-level settings override the global default for one specific campaign. If you don't touch a campaign's reminder settings, it keeps using the global default.

If I change my global default, does it update existing campaigns?

Only campaigns that are still using the global default (i.e., you've never overridden their reminder settings) will pick up the new value on the next scheduled reminder. Campaigns with campaign-level overrides keep their overrides.

Do reminders work for evergreen campaigns?

Yes. Evergreen campaigns use the cohort's reminder configuration and continue sending until the employee completes the assignment or the end date is reached.

What happens to employees who are added to a cohort mid-campaign?

Newly enrolled employees receive the campaign's initial delivery and then fall into the campaign's reminder cadence alongside existing enrollees.

What happens if an employee leaves a cohort or un-enrolls?

Reminders stop being generated for that employee as soon as they're no longer in the target cohort.

Does changing reminder settings on an active campaign affect reminders already queued?

Changes take effect on the next scheduled reminder. Reminders already generated for immediate delivery are not retroactively modified.
